DESCRIPTION:ABOTA Masters in Trial\n\npresented by the\n\n\nSouth Carolina Bar-Continuing Legal Education Division\n\nLive at the\nThe University of South Carolina School of Law\n701 Main Street\nColumbia\n \nand via\nVideo-CLE sites: Aiken, Charleston (FULL), Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Greenwood and Pendleton\n\n\n\n\nAbouth the Seminar\nThis year’s Masters in Trial demonstration presents a powerful look at the claims and counterclaims between a lawyer and his client over unpaid but agreed-upon legal fees, court-imposed monetary sanctions against both the attorney and client, and allegations of malpractice and serious ethical misconduct. The dramatic facts of this real-life case include the lawyer leaving a foreign country by early morning light without notifying opposing counsel, thereby canceling depositions which were scheduled to last for a month, failing to turn over relevant documents, failing to prepare witnesses, allegations of lack of candor with the tribunal, and engaging in serious deposition misconduct. Does it change the outcome if the lawyer maintains his clients were not only responsible for much of the alleged misconduct, but also encouraged him to keep his reasons for some of the conduct from the court?\n\nCome see how premiere ABOTA lawyers handle the dramatic question whether the conduct of one of our own still entitles him to his fee in light of his own alleged unethical conduct and legal malpractice. Whether you are a novice or seasoned litigator, or plaintiff or defense counsel, this seminar is designed to teach by example the skills you will need in your next trial and reinforce for you the ethical conduct you are obligated to demonstrate as an officer of the court.Come see how the Masters handle it! \n\nThis program qualifies for 6.75 MCLE credit hours, including up to 6.75 LEPR credit hours.\n\n7:30 a.m. Registration\n \n8:15 a.m. Welcome - South Carolina Chapter President\nSamuel W.
