This advanced level program highlights topics such as “Insight From the Federal Bench” moderated by the Honorable Shiva Hodges, as well as a fascinating panel of in-house corporate attorneys who will discuss “The Trends We See and Those We Want to See.”\nThe NLRB update will feature the Board’s actions in the last year, how they have impacted and will continue to impact South Carolina, especially as they relate to Boeing. \n \nAn engaging “Point/Counterpoint” discussion from both the plaintiffs’ and defense side to discuss how we as employment attorneys can improve our own business environment. \n \nAs the federal agencies have taken a much more aggressive approach in implementing and enforcing employee rights, former U.S. Solicitor of Labor Greg Jacobs will discuss new developments in the wage and hour laws and what they mean in today’s environment. Plus there will be a presentation concerning the EEOC’s initiative on systemic discrimination. \n \nAs we see retaliation claims on the rise, an informative update will be given on the status of retaliation and whistle-blower claims. Another update will be on the ever and swift-changing landscape of social media and how it affects our practice and our clients, and how we represent them. Finally, a topic that has not recently been broached at this conference, “Personality Testing in the Workplace.”\n \nAs always, there will be excellent substantive updates from the Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit, and the North and South Carolina updates, as well as an Ethics Update to satisfy our annual CLE requirements, all of which will be brilliantly presented.\n Hotel Information\nThe block of rooms at the Doubletree Guest Suites has been filled. At this time reservations will be filled on a space-and-rate available basis.
